Aplicació

1. Additius de gasolina: MTBE is widely used as an additive to gasoline, especially for improving the octane number and antiknock performance of gasoline. It can improve the combustion performance of gasoline, increase the power and combustion efficiency of the engine. A més, MTBE can also reduce the emission of harmful substances in exhaust gases, such as carbon monoxide and air pollutants.

2. Dissolvent: MTBE is a polar solvent with good solubility and volatility. Pot dissoldre moltes substàncies orgàniques, com els olis, resines, adhesives and certain chemicals. Per aquesta raó, chemical 2-Methoxy-2-methylpropane is often used as a solvent for paints, agents de neteja, adhesives and glues.

3. Refrigerant: Because MTBE has a low boiling point and high heat conductivity, it can be used as one of the components of refrigerant. It can be used for refrigerants and heat transfer media in refrigeration systems, such as cooling systems and air conditioning equipment
4. Síntesi química: MTBE also has some applications in organic synthesis. It can be used as an important reaction solvent and intermediate for the preparation of other compounds such as alcohols, aldehydes, acids and ketones.
