Ethanol is an organic compound, the structural formula is CH3CH2OH or C2H5OH, the molecular formula is C2H6O, commonly known as alcohol. 1. Beverage and food industry: Ethanol is one of the main ingredients in alcoholic beverages such as beer, wine and spirits. Ethanol is also used as an additive and solvent in the food and beverage industry.
