Product Detail

Hydroxybenzene is an organic compound. It is a colorless needle-like crystal with a distinctive odor and is toxic. It is an important raw material in the production of certain resins, fungicides, preservatives, and medicines (such as aspirin). It can also be used for disinfection of surgical instruments and excrement treatment, skin sterilization, itching and otitis media. Melting point 43℃, slightly soluble in water at room temperature, easily soluble in organic solvents; When the temperature is higher than 65 ° C, it can be miscible with water in any proportion. Phenol is corrosive and denatures local proteins upon contact. Its solution can be washed with alcohol when it touches the skin. Small amounts of phenol exposed to air are oxidized to quinone by oxygen and appear pink. This method is usually used to test phenol when ferric ions turn purple.

Application

1. Chemical synthesis: phenol is an important chemical synthesis raw material and can be used as an intermediate to synthesize a variety of organic compounds. It is often used in the synthesis of phenolic resins, epoxy resins, flame retardants, dyes, drugs and pesticides. In addition, phenol can also be used as a raw material for some catalysts and active agents.

2. Preservative: PhOH has the property of inhibiting microbial growth, so it is widely used in the field of preservatives. It can be used as wood preservative, preservative paint, leather preservative and paper and fiber preservative.

3. Pharmaceutical industry: Phenol is also used in pharmaceutical industry. It can be used as an intermediate for some drugs, such as the synthesis of antibiotics, antipyretic analgesics, anti-cancer drugs, etc. In addition, chemical hydroxybenzenecan also be used in the preparation of disinfectants, preservatives, external ointment and so on.

4. Cosmetics and personal care products: Phenol is used as an antibacterial and preservative in cosmetics and personal care products. It can extend the shelf life of products and prevent the growth of bacteria and fungi.

5. Industrial cleaning agent: phenol has good solubility and can dissolve many organic compounds, so it can be used as an ingredient in industrial cleaning agents for cleaning equipment, pipes and containers.
