1. Gasoline additives: MTBE is widely used as an additive to gasoline, especially for improving the octane number and antiknock performance of gasoline. It can improve the combustion performance of gasoline, increase the power and combustion efficiency of the engine. In addition, MTBE can also reduce the emission of harmful substances in exhaust gases, such as carbon monoxide and air pollutants.

2. Solvent: MTBE is a polar solvent with good solubility and volatility. It can dissolve many organic substances, such as oils, resins, adhesives and certain chemicals. Therefore, chemical 2-Methoxy-2-methylpropane is often used as a solvent for paints, cleaning agents, adhesives and glues.
