Product Detail

Cyclohexane is an organic compound, the chemical formula is C6H12, colorless and pungent liquid, insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ether, benzene, acetone and other organic solvents. Volatile and highly combustible, vapor and air form an explosive mixture, the explosion limit of 1.3 ~ 8.4% (volume). In case of open fire and high heat, it is easy to burn and explode. Contact with an oxidizing agent causes a strong reaction and even combustion. In a fire, heated containers are in danger of exploding. Its vapor is heavier than air, can spread to a considerable distance at a lower place, and will catch fire in case of fire.

Application

1. Solvent: cyclohexane is a non-polar solvent with low relative polarity. It can dissolve many organic substances, such as oils, resins, rubbers, waxes and certain chemicals. For this reason, cyclohexane is often used as a solvent in paints, inks, adhesives, candles, cosmetics, and cleaning agents.

2. Chemical synthesis: cyclohexane is an important reaction solvent and intermediate in organic synthesis. It can be used in the hydrogenation of benzene to produce cyclohexane derivatives, such as cyclohexanone and cyclohexanol. In addition, cyclohexane can also be used to synthesize cyclohexanamine, cyclohexanic acid and other chemicals.

3. Polymer industry: chemical cyclohexane can be used as a solvent and reaction medium for the manufacture of polycaprolactone (PCL). Polycaprolactone is a kind of polymer material that can be prepared into plastics and fibers.

4. Laboratory application: cyclohexane is one of the commonly used solvents in the laboratory. It can be used to dissolve, dilute and extract a variety of experimental samples and compounds. Due to its lower polarity and lower volatility, it can be used in many reactions and operations for organic synthesis and chemical analysis.
