Diethylene glycol is a polyol, chemical formula C4H10O3, colorless, odorless, transparent, hygroscopic viscous liquid, with a spicy sweet taste, non-corrosive, low toxicity. The solubility is similar to that of ethylene glycol, but the solubility of hydrocarbons is stronger.

Application

1. Solvent: DEG is a good solvent, can be used for tank cleaning, pigment and dye preparation and other processes. It can dissolve a variety of organic compounds, which helps in the process of reaction and mixing of substances.

2. Coolant and antifreeze: Similar to chemical ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol can also be used as engine coolant and antifreeze. It has a low freezing point and a high boiling point, which can prevent the coolant from freezing at low temperatures and prevent the car engine from overheating at high temperatures.

3. Plasticizer: diethylene glycol can be used as a plasticizer for plastic and rubber products to improve their softness, toughness and ductility. It can improve the properties of polymers, making them more suitable for a variety of applications.
