Methanol, also known as hydroxyl methane, is an organic compound, is the simplest structure of saturated mono alcohol, its structure is simple CH3OH, can highlight the hydroxyl group of methanol. Because it was first found in retort wood, it is also called “wood alcohol” or “wood essence”. The lowest dose of oral poisoning in humans is about 100mg/kg body weight, and oral ingestion can be fatal by 0.3 ~ 1g/kg. It is used in the manufacture of formaldehyde and pesticides, and is used as an extractant of organic matter and a denaturant of alcohol.

Application

1. Chemical industry: MeOH is an important raw material for the synthesis of other chemicals. It can be used to prepare organic compounds such as formaldehyde, esters, ethylene and propylene. These compounds are widely used in medicine, cosmetics, plastics, coatings and chemicals.
